METALLICA SETS NEW RECORD AS ONLY BAND WITH FIVE ALBUMS DEBUTING AT NO. 1

DEATH MAGNETIC TOPS THE BILLBOARD ALBUMS CHART, SELLING NEARLY 490,000 COPIES WITHIN THREE DAYS

Burbank, CA- Death Magnetic, the ninth studio album from multi-platinum hard-rock band Metallica, is the best-selling album in the country this week, debuting atop the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart at No. 1, making Metallica the only band in chart history to have five albums debut at No. 1.

Metallica breaks their tie with the Beatles, U2 and the Dave Matthews Band, all of who have four No. 1 album debuts. Death Magnetic is Metallica's fifth consecutive studio album to debut at No. 1, following 1991's Metallica (known as The Black Album), 1996's Load, 1997's ReLoad, and 2003's St. Anger. Death Magnetic also scored big around the world with No. 1 debuts in such diverse countries as Argentina, Belgium, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Holland, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, and Turkey (which doesn’t have an official chart but the album was No. 1 on every retail chart). More No. 1 rankings are expected this weekend as remaining charts roll in.

yeah,
Metallica "was" a metal band back in the day,
but it's time for them to retire their claim to be metal!
and be what they are now.......top 40
This album blows bigger than all of the hurricanes
that have accumulated recently...

I like 5 songs:
1. That was just your life
2. Broken beaten and scarred
3. The day that never comes
4. My apocalypse
5. All nightmare long

The other 5 I could take or leave. I would probably like them more if they weren't so long. In the past, Metallica has made some great lengthy songs like And justice for All and Master of Puppets. But I would not put these songs in the same boat.

This is a great return to form. I recently read a professional review of this album and the writer describes it as 'Hammett's revenge'. So well put, because after a long drought of solos from one of metal's premiere lead guitarists, I'm thrilled to hear his original and memorable solos again. I'm lovin' this disc!

Yes, that song is powerful and aggressive.
It is hard to believe that it is metallica.
Is Trujillo the man? oh yes, he has always been. Wink

We all expected yers ago that trujillo would bring the power to this band.

"That was your life" appears in my random list, and it always appears very strongly and catchy.
